Obama Raises More than 100 million in September

Obama’s Ad Effort Swamps McCain and Nears Record

PHILADELPHIA — Senator Barack Obama is days away from breaking the advertising spending record set by President Bush in the general election four years ago, having unleashed an advertising campaign of a scale and complexity unrivaled in the television era.

With advertisements running repeatedly day and night, on local stations and on the major broadcast networks, on niche cable networks and even on video games and his own dedicated satellite channels, Mr. Obama is now outadvertising Senator John McCain nationwide by a ratio of at least four to one, according to CMAG, a service that monitors political advertising. That difference is even larger in several closely contested states.

The huge gap has been made possible by Mr. Obama’s decision to opt out of the federal campaign finance system, which gives presidential nominees $84 million in public money and prohibits them from spending any amount above that from their party convention to Election Day. Mr. McCain is participating in the system. Mr. Obama, who at one point promised to participate in it as well, is expected to announce in the next few days that he raised more than $100 million in September, a figure that would shatter fund-raising records.

“This is uncharted territory,” said Kenneth M. Goldstein, the director of the Advertising Project at the University of Wisconsin. “We’ve certainly seen heavy advertising battles before. But we’ve never seen in a presidential race one side having such a lopsided advantage.”

Huh? (sitting with mouth open)

Are you sure that's not a typo?

That's a boatload of money ...a few boatloads.

Apparently I was not the only one motivated by crazy *** Sarah Palin.

Did you see that horrible Rep. From Minnesota on Hardball tonight? The hate spouting from her mouth just disgusted me.

Nope... didn't catch it. I'm usually at work during the evening when those programs are on... sometimes I catch the replays... I don't really watch much TV....unless it's on my day off. And when I do watch... i'd say 1/2 the time is devoted to catching up on the news programs...since i'm a news junkie. Often I will catch things a day or two later...if it's something controversial...or I catch it online.

But what did she say??? Post the vid if you find it.

Congrats to the Obama campaign, as it continues to make hi$tory!

Regarding Rep. NUTJOB from Minnesota on Hardball:

In a television appearance that outraged Democrats are already describing as Joseph McCarthy politics, Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann claimed on Friday that Barack Obama and his wife Michelle held anti-American views and couldn't be trusted in the White House. She even called for the major newspapers of the country to investigate other members of Congress to "find out if they are pro-America or anti-America."

Update 10-18-08: A campaign to censure Rep. Michelle Bachmann over her remarks has been launched.

Hat-tip Huffingtonpost.com

Meanwhile back in Western PA a canvasser stops by the home of Ma and Pa “yea we’re racist but we’re voting the n*gger”:

[ So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, "We're votin' for the n***er!" ]

Hmmm...“Racists-for-Obama”...???

You really CAN’T make this stuff up! {shaking my head in disbelief}

Ooops I left out a line!

The story should read:

[ So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania. Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back, "We're votin' for the n***er!"

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly:

"We're voting for the n***er." ]

Like I said_you cannot make this stuff up!

Thanks for that info Truthiz,

I'm definitely going to check this out later tonight.... maybe I can find the vid. It's crazy for this kind of stuff to come from other members of Congress at this point. But there are a few bigots in Congress... or they have been in Congress recently. Virgil Goode is one example that comes to mind. (I believe he's facing possible defeat in November).

The canvasser story is interesting. I have seen similar stories cropping up (although not as up front as this one, lol). It shows just how deep of a hole the McCain campaign is in.
