What Are The Russians Planning?

Russian Bombers Enter British Airspace

Britain and Norway scrambled jets over the weekend to intercept Russian bombers crossing into NATO territory.

Report

Russia and the West did quite a bit of probing and intercepting..... during the Cold War. It was pretty much routine. But this dropped off after the Soviet Union broke apart. However, this activity has been increasing since Putin came to power in 2000, and has increased even more in the past couple of years. Russian bombers are now routinely intercepted near Iceland, headed for North America, and near Alaska and the Northwest U.S. Coast.

It is clear that Russia wants to revive old Cold War tensions (I believe the Cold War never really ended in the first place). And the pro-war crazies who run this country are eager to oblige Russia and fulfill their wish. Because this also seems to be what the U.S. Neo-con elites want as well. Afterall.... these tensions are good for the Defense Industry, and good in terms of how well these companies do on the stock market. If the U.S. can convince Europe and other parts of the world that Russia is still a threat, then the U.S. Defense Industry can sell more weaponry. A good deal for the rich elites, but bad for the rest of us.

What we basically have are two governments run by crazies who are armed with nuclear weapons. The problem with these kinds of games, is that they raise the risk of a miscalculation or miscommunication of some sort....and one thing could quickly lead to another and before we know it, there could be an international crisis. I am hoping that the next U.S. President (regardless of which war Party they are from) can restore normal relations with other major powers in the World, especially with Russia.
