White staff control U.S. Congressional Committees

African American Political Pundit says: Finally, someone is speaking up and out about the lack of black folks in the house. Yes, the house, the big house, the U.S. House of Representative staff.

Hat Tip to incoming CBC chair Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D-MI) for bringing this issue to the forefront of discussion on the hill. Also Hat Tip to Jack and Jill Politics and conservative newspaper the Washington Times, for reporting on this issue. Let’s see what the leadership of the House of Representatives does about the need to hire black folks in the people’s house. There are fewer than 50 minorities are among the hundreds of committee staffers.

It’s 2006 and black folks are still begging for jobs that rightfully should be made available, to all, through affirmative recruitment at HBCU’s and other outreach venues. I remember in the late 60's, 1970’s and 80’s thousands of black folks majored in political science.

There is no excuse, that there are no qualified blacks to fill the positions. After black folks acting as the swing vote to get Democrats elected to control the U.S. House, Nancy Pelosi and U.S. House Democrats owes black folks key jobs as House committee staffers, as they become available.

Anything less, should cause black folks to vote for other candidates next election. In other words vote for those who support…. US

It’s really time to hold democrats accountable.

Congresswoman Pelosi wants to hear from you. You can email her at sf.nancy@mail.house.gov. Or you can go to her website Here. Please note that the rules of Congressional courtesy prevent Rep. Pelosi from replying to emails if she cannot determine that you are a constituent, so remember to include your full name, address, and zip code.

Thanks again, Jack and Jill Politics.

Nice post AI, although I question the motives of the Washington Times for their piece. I am sure it was totally political and had nothing to do with their desire to advance the cause of black folks.

Hey Field....

I was thinking the same thing about the Washington Times (A very Conservative Paper). It looks like a move to put pressure on the Democrats and to shine some light on the situation, hoping to attract minorities to their cause.

But it's strange how the Conservatives turn things around to blame Dems. It's the Conservatives who have been in control of the Capital for the past 12 years.... they didn't want to take responsibility then. Now when Democrats are set to take over...the Conservative press is all of a sudden concerned about diversity. That's very suspect. Usually they are against any diversity efforts.

But hopefully more people will get the chance to work there (and not just well connected people).

And this wasn't my post.... This is the work of L.N. Rock (The African American Political Pundit). I have to give credit where credit is due.... He's good... That's why I grabbed him and got him to join the blog team as soon as a saw his work, lol.
