Dear Senator Obama,
I would like to write you an open letter here of 'constructive criticism' from the folks here at Mirror on America. We here at Mirror on America span the range of hardcore supporters to 'constructive critics', but never ' haters'. The following have been floated around here.
1. Your communications team is LACKING.
The response time, let alone the forcefulness of the counterattacks are lukewarm to awful. When someone like Paris Hilton can do an effective slapdown of John McCain on energy policy and your ads make people go ' eh', something's not going as well for you as possible.
John McCain is a walking ad. Just commercials on his flip-flops and 'gaffes', would be enough to take up a sizeable budget.
2. You're losing the surrogate battle.
You are indeed your own best surrogate, but you can't be everywhere, and you shouldn't be. You need effective surrogates who will do the verbal smackdown for you.
Best ones: McCaskill, Susan Rice, Biden, John Kerry (if he had been this way in 2004, he'd be President), Richardson to a degree. But, you need more. What you DON'T need is the group of folks on tv with Democrat by their name, and they either give a half-assed defense of you, or none at all (this group is too numerous to name).
3. Spread your message
It makes no sense that if you have a townhall, the ENTIRE Townhall isn't available at BarackObama.com. Folks going there don't want some 10-15 minute snippet of what someone else believes is your ' greatest hit' at the Townhall. If someone takes the time to actually search out your Townhalls, or a supporter sends someone to your website so that they can see for themselves, they need to see it ALL. You have the funds; there is NO EXCUSE for your Townhalls not to be available for viewing to the American Public IN THEIR ENTIRETY. You won this nomination in no small part due to your campaign's mastery of the communications tool that a website can be. Don't start falling down on the job now.
Just a few constructive criticisms from the Mirror on America family.

I see we have been noticing the same things.
He needs a team dedicated only to fighting the lies. They need to respond faster....and more aggressively. Not only that... but I have noticed that Obama has been spending a lot of time "responding" rather than staying on the offense.
And Obama is really getting creamed on the surrogate front. The Republicans always had an advantage there... but the Dems have got to do better. Sometimes it may not be their fault... they don't run the news networks. But something has got to happen.
I was watching a program a couple of days ago...(forgot which station) and it was about the "race card" debate. It was 2 against 1. A Black reporter was pleading Obama's case...but he wasn't doing all that well.
Maybe Obama has a shortage of people.... I don't know.
And it seems as if the media is afraid to go hard on McCain. I guess in this atmosphere of ultra patriotism.... the news outlets just don't want to be seen as attacking a former POW. The nonsense from McCain just in the past 2 weeks would have been enough material for the media to attack Obama on for the entire campaign. But McCain gets off easy.
How in the Hell don't you ask the Family Values Conservative candidate about his behavior at Sturgis? Or about Stephen Price.... or about his flip flopping....or his lack of a health plan....and how he's going to improve the lives of ordinary Americans? The man has no plan... he is only waving the American flag and parading his war cred.... And somehow that *hit is allowing him to stay just 5 points behind Obama.
Unreal!
He is doing as well as he is by attacking Obama rather than saying what he is going to do...
Obama needs to force that discussion and force him to explain how he will pay for it while staying the course in Iraq & making the tax cuts for the rich permanent.
Obama also needs to go back to the Bush-McCain link....and doing every chance he gets. He needs to show how close McCain was and is with Bush & Co.
