Part Of Mychal Bell's Conviction Thrown Out
I know I'm supposed to be on hiatus, but certain things take priority. A judge in Jena has thrown out the conspiracy charge against Mychal Bell on the grounds that the trial was improperly held, but has maintained his conviction on the aggravated assault and battery charge, which means he still faces up to 15 years in prison.

Rest of the article by dnA is here:

Star Jones had this case on her show today. She was very adept in getting out the outrageousness of this story.

You fail to mention the violent criminal past of Mychal Bell.

"On August 24th, 2007, a bond hearing was held for Mychal Bell. Judge J.P. Mauffray ruled against Bell, citing four prior violent crimes in his past and three parole violations."

Please report the truth and not omit things to work the story in your own favor.

It is ILLEGAL to convict someone of a crime, Anonymous, based on who they ONCE WERE.
You cant get a former drug user on potential future drug use unless you catch him with a needle in his arm.
You cant convict a former arsonist because he was near the scene of a fire.
And you certainly cannot convict a former batterer of attempted murder if he was only there to witness the fight. Look at the law, there is no breaking it.
Status crimes are unconstitutional and for you to bring it up suggests a hatred on your part and you shouldnt fail to admit that so that things arent skewed in YOUR favor.

Mychal Bell is a 17 year old JUVENILE that has a prior JUVENILE record. There is no way that information should have been considered or discussed if he is being convicted of an ADULT crime. If they wanted to consider his prior JUVENILE record, then they should have charged him with a JUVENILE crime that would have been resolved in a JUVENILE court with a JUVENILE sentence.

Make up your mid, is he a JUVENILE or ADULT?!

If he has a juvenile record, WHY do we know about it? Aren't they supposed to be sealed.

As for you, Anonymous #1, I don't care what his ' record' was before. The issue is what happened here.

to anonymous #1...you are really omiting the real truth and rights of this boy. Just because he HAS done bad things in his past does not mean that he has done wrong this time.i believe this whole thing is obsured! it was a regular high school fight! it happens EVERY SINGLE DAY IN MY CITY!AND YES IT IS A BLEND OF RACES! but we do not send them to court with adult charges and conspiracy! that is a bunch of BS!!! and something needs to be done! ASAP!

It does not matter what he did in the past. People can not just let go of what people can do in the past and it is unacceptable! Mychal Bell was unfairly tried when it says he was sixteen at the time of the fight so it should have been a Juvenal NOT an adult!! If you do not like the story then do not read it simple as that! It is not brain surgery people! Also his trial had a jury of all white and ten white students as witnesses. Also a student had to ask to sit under the tree by a school administrator so obviously there was a racial problem with the school if a black student had to ask to sit under a tree! Personally I think everything was unfair with this incident.
