When Will The Other Shoe Drop?A Grand Jury will indict William Jefferson on numerous counts of bribery, after an investigation lasting several months. The indictment is approximately 90+ pages and contains as many as 16 counts.
Nancy Pelosi, who should have removed Jefferson long ago, will now have to ask Jefferson to step down. If he refuses, Pelosi should begin the process to formally remove the Congressman. His constituents will eventually choose a replacement in a special election. There should be no loss of a Democratic seat in the House of Representatives, since his replacement is expected to be another Democrat.
But Pelosi has been irresponsible with Mr. Cool Cash before, when she failed to ask him to step aside after the scandal broke. It would not surprise me if she moves slowly or doesn't act at all now, even after an indictment. Of course the corrupt and morally bankrupt Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has been fighting and will continue to fight to keep Jefferson in his position. This is what previously scared off Pelosi IMO... she is so concerned about angering the CBC & having a spat with the group that she is willing to do damage to her entire Party. So I wonder how she plans to handle the situation now.... will she still be afraid?
