Ferraro Says Obama is LUCKY He's Black

From DailyKos:

Ferraro: Obama is lucky he's black

More classiness, from one of Clinton's top surrogates, Geraldine Ferraro.

If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.

Ferraro isn't some unknown lower-level or obscure advisor, but one of her top fundraisers, member of Clinton's finance committee, and a former Democratic vice presidential nominee.

So, being Black is now a CONCEPT.

A CONCEPT, People.

Well, she can CONCEPT this.

Kiss.My.Lucky.Black.Ass.

UPDATE: Another DailyKos poster had this response to Ferraro

That's right Geraldine.

If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. He would not have gotten Secret Service protection as early as last May.

If Obama was a white man, CBS.com wouldn't have temporarily turned off comments on Obama stories because of the volume and persistence of racist comments.

If Obama was a white man, his Secret Service wouldn't rival that of President Bush's.

If Obama was a white man, I doubt that the Somali photo would've resulted in the Secret Service investigating a right-wing radio show host threatening the Senator's life.

This is just the publicly available stuff.

I'll let you decide....does this go into the ClintonAttacksObama Wiki Incident Page?

I'm absolutely horrified at Ferraro's remarks, but not surprised after the op-ed piece she did a few weeks ago rationalizing why the superdelegates should go against the popular vote. Are people so blind that they can't understand that Obama has not "gone after" Hillary in a vicious way because it's just plain wrong to attack candidates from your own party? Obama hasn't soared in this election because he's black. When Obama caught my attention it was because of his obvious intelligence and the dignity and honor he projects. He's won the hearts of people who have been disgusted with the dirty, divisive politics that the democrats have been playing since Bill was in the White House. Black and white had nothing to do with it until the Clinton machine played the race card. And the gender card. Does anyone else wonder if that man in New Hampshire, who called out to Hillary on the eve of the primary that she should "Iron my shirts!" was planted by the Clinton camp to stir up sympathy?
