A new report indicates that the U.S. plans to expand Gitmo, despite previous reports that suggested that prison operations there would shut down.
The U.S. is expanding the base so that it can hold more people...and they are planning this under the guise that refugees will flee Cuba when Castro dies. This makes absolutely no sense, especially in light of the fact that many Cuban expatriates have expressed an eagerness to go back to Cuba when Castro dies. If anything, Cuba may have to deal with an influx of people coming back in after Castro passes on, hoping to be a part of a new and more free Cuba.....
This seems to be more of a convenient PR excuse for the U.S. to expand the base.
