Remember Stuart W. Bowen, The Iraq Inspector General for Reconstruction?

The guy who uncovered all kinds of mismanagement, fraud, and the waste of millions of dollars of your tax money...and other unethical and illegal activity by the Bushies?

Well, it turns out that the White House is now going after him with a vengeance. I knew that it was just a matter of time. The Bush administration has been trying to shut Bowen up for a long time now.

And it's awfully suspicious that the allegations against Mr. Bowen are just now coming out at this late date (for things alleged to have happened so long ago).

Could this be retaliation against the outspoken Iraq watchdog, because he talked too much? I would say that his outspoken nature had something to do with it. The Bush administration has been taking a lot of hits lately and this seems like an opportunity for them to hit back.... But just like with Iraq, these neo-cons go after those who are smaller...and who cannot meaninfully fight back.

I think that the U.S. Congress should step in and provide Bowen with some sort of protection from being railroaded (if possible). Bowen's work has been crucial to Congress and to the rest of us in the effort to really find out what is going on in Iraq.
