Michael Steele Is Forced To Bow Down To His Masters

Michael Steele was forced to bow down to Rush Limbaugh after getting a little too brave on CNN yesterday when he stated that Limbaugh was not the leader of the Republican Party. Limbaugh and Veteran Republicans had to quickly correct Steele and remind him of his place. And they did it in public *ouch*.

Here is Steele on CNN speaking with DL Hughley (Carlton Ridenhour also on set):

But Rush Limbaugh was not amused by Steele's comments. Limbaugh had to remind Steele who was in charge.

Limbaugh also stated:

“It's time, Mr. Steele, for you to go behind the scenes and start doing the work that you were elected to do instead of trying to be some talking head media star, which you're having a tough time pulling off,” “But it seems to me that it's Michael Steele who is off to a shaky start.”

Steele immediately called Rush: (my paraphrasing)

I's Sorry Masta.... Please forgive Me... don't hurt me please. I understand sir that I am simply here to fill a role.... the role that you chose for me. I know I'm the token Nigra... I in no way meant to challenge your authority as leader. I just got carried away talking to that DL Hughley on CNN... I don't know what I was thinkin'. Masta... Please forgive me.

I hope I can stay in my position... I sure does like it here Masta... I hope this situation won't get me removed. I'll do anything you want me to just to make up fa dis. Can I shine your shoes the next time we meet? Just let me know where you need me...and I's make sure I bring ma shoeshine bag wit me. I'll shine those shoes so clean you'd be able ta see ya reflection.

Just as I have been saying here (and elsewhere) for years... Limbaugh and Co. represents the leadership of the Republican Party... they are the ideological and spiritual compass of the Party....and they speak for the Party. It has been this way for at least the past 20 years.

Somehow Steele actually believed that he was running something (funny). All this time... he has failed to realize why he was chosen as the figurehead leader of the Republican Party.

I have to admit...this kind of nonsense is disturbing... to see a grown man...an adult Black man... having his dignity stripped so publicly. It almost reminds you of another time. But it's equally bothersome to watch Black men like Steele, Keyes, Blackwell, and others... offer themselves up for this kind of public castration and submission to a Party that seeks to exploit them.

Whenever a Republican challenges the Right Wing Republican Media apparatus... they are quickly reminded of how powerful this group is...and they are made to apologize. This has happened about 3 or 4 times in the past week, and it happens all the time. Even Republicans are afraid of Rush Limbaugh and the other figures in Conservative Talk Radio and TV. In many ways...the Republican Party operates like an organized crime syndicate. What we are seeing now is a lot of infighting...and jockeying for position during a time of change....just like in the Mafia.

This is likely to go on for quite some time as the Republicans search for a new identity...try to determine what they stand for... as they try to find a message...and as they seek some sort of "official" figurehead leadership, now that Tricky Dick II, Tom Delay, Trent Lott, and other GOP stalwarts have all moved out of their official positions of power and influence.

I have been saying forever that it was past time to force Republicans to admit the obvious... that Right Wing nuts like Limbaugh are the spokespeople and the leaders of the Republican Party. Progressive strategists are finally learning. Once you shackle the Republican Political leaders with their Spokespeople they will be shamed... but would likely have no choice but to be content with the connection. The GOP's political success is dependent on the Right Wing media apparatus and its reputation for filling the airwaves with lies, distortions, propaganda & hatred. Republicans simply can't make it if they are forced to deal with real issues, real people and if they have to come up with solutions to real problems. They don't operate in the real world with the rest of us. If they do, then they are wearing blinders.

In years past... Republicans operated alongside the Conservative Talk Radio and TV lunatics... but in a more subtle way. Right Wing Talk Radio has always been more of a shadowy parallel companion to the official Republican Party. It was more of a wink and a nod relationship...where officially... Republican political figures were able to distance themselves from racist and incendiary comments from their media cohorts. This arrangement almost always allowed Republican political figures to claim plausible deniability...whenever their friends in the media (many whom they know to be racist and sexist jackasses) made offensive comments.

Now Republican Politicians won't be able to do that so easily anymore. And that's a good thing. I say... let their Conservative media buddies drag them down even further...and let them continue with their infighting. But if Progressives don't know how to exploit this... then they will miss an opportunity IMO.

As much as I have criticized Hughley.... I believe that what he did with Steele was a pretty smart move. He put Steele in an impossible position, where he had no choice but to say something that would cause a problem within the Republican Party. But the GOP can't call Hughley the bad guy. They have been running around with these media nuts for years.... now they either have to claim them or fight it out with them and purge them. (And that's not likely to happen because the GOP relies on its media wing for its very survival). They are stuck with Limbaugh and Co. And I couldn't be happier.

I'm a little late getting to the the party (hearing about all this), due to personal and professional demands_but I'm back in the the loop now...and I've gotta say:

Nothing_ABSOLUTELY NOTHING_that goes in the Republican party surprises me anymore.

Steele got his "Head-Minstrel" ticket CHECKED. PO fella...he really thought he was in charge!?!_SMH.

I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it_those people ARE. NOT. "BRIGHT".

No one told Steele to believe in the lies of those Frat boys....he got exactly what he deserved.

And if he's not enraged by being publically humiliated by a fat, sweaty retrograde drug addict then .... so be it.

I think the Democrats -- particularly Progressive Democrats are exploiting this if this Washington Post article is any indication.

"Rush is the bloated face and drug-addled voice of the Republican Party," said Paul Begala, a longtime Democratic strategist who rose to prominence during Bill Clinton's presidency. "Along with lots of others, I intend to continue to turn up the heat until every alleged Republican either endorses or renounces Rush's statement that he hopes our President fails."

I'm loving it! Politics is exciting again!

Being a Cheese eater finally blew up in this lawn jockey's smug face. I saw his a-- cooning and shinning during the GOP convention. What an ignoramus. You mean to tell me that with all that good edjumacation this hoe has resorted back to plain ole buck dancing? Just damn! I am over 40 and from Mississippi, and I 've not seen that much scratching and doing the craw dad (crawfish move backwards when they feel a threat)in a long time. I keep telling black people that there is no honor in being a coward and some fat junkie's b----h. We have to make it a punishable offense to sell us out. There are two phrases in the black community that can keep the under informed and ignorant down. "He or she is educated and or "he or she is religious." Throw these two red herrings up and need-to-grows (negroes) will be araid to challenge this "anointed one" even to the detriment of their own children. Steele and his ilk are weak social misfits that use religion and education to oppress us and edify themselves. This Punk let a fat, insecure drug addicted cry baby tell him to sit his b---- a-- down and this turd did it! My wife would leave me if I rolled over like that. He'd better watch his. Women find this behavior weak and disgusting.

Boy! Just when I was ready to annoint Mike Steele the Savior of the GOP, he does some tail-tucking and teeth-showing.

Mike may have gotten back in good graces with the pill popping, GOP Monarch, but he may have lost any chance of persuading any of the 95% of black folks who have rejected - and continue to reject - the GOP platform. No amount of Hip Hop-ocity can make up for spinlessly kissing a man's ass.

That’s exactly how I’ve been describing the entire Republican Party. A bunch of dangerous, developmentally stunted MISFITS. An UNHOLY alliance of Talibangelicals, neoCON warmongers, Corporatist Fascists Crooks and Joe-the (NOT really) Plumbers…all now being led by __RUSH LIMBAUGH!?! [shaking my head].

The truth is, both parties have played the American people for fools for at least the past 30-40 years. And the Dems have a lot of sh*t to answer for.

But the GOP has taken their ABSURD, MINDLESS and RECKLESS behavior to a disturbingly new low and the American people are NOT amused.

Steele and other Black-Repubs had better get a clue because their party is on a real suicide mission.

"Death by a thousand cuts”.

Steele trap? GOP fears grow
By Mike Allen & Andy Barr 3/4/09

A month after Michael Steele became the first African-American chairman of the Republican National Committee, key party leaders are worried that the GOP has made a costly mistake — one that will make it even harder for them to take back power from the dominant Democratic Party.

Steadily becoming a dependable punch line, Steele has brushed back Rush Limbaugh, threatened moderate Republican senators, offered the “friggin’ awesome” Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal some “slum love,” called civil unions “crazy” and promised more outreach to “urban-suburban hip-hop settings” via an “off the hook” public relations campaign.

He even threw a shout-out to “one-armed midgets.”

That’s in just 30 days on the job — and that’s just the PR part.

On the organizational side, Steele does not have a chief of staff, a political director, a finance director or a communications director. Last week, one of the two men sharing the job of interim finance director was forced to resign.

For now, “the fourth floor,” as the RNC’s executive suite is known, is being run by a pair of consultants.

“There’s frustration that there’s no discipline, no planning,” said a well-known Republican consultant. “He’s risking being overexposed by accepting every interview, which makes gaffes more likely.”

[Steele: Put GOP On A "12-Step Program" March 4, 2009

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele pledged on Wednesday to place his party on a "12-step program of recovery," while also backpedaling from his recent critiques of conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh.

Speaking to the Maryland radio station WBAL, Steele said that "no one individual" was head of the party and described his comments downplaying Limbaugh's show and influence as in-artful. He added that if Republicans wanted to ascend back to the heights of political power, they had to stop trying to be "cool and hip in a Democrat way," and admit their past mistakes.

"I am putting the party on a 12-step program of recovery," said the RNC chair. "This is going to take some time, it is going to take some effort. But we are prepared to move forward and to state the case, make the case to the American people that we have something to offer. We are not here to be the party that is just here to say no. We are not the party to be in opposition just for the sake of opposition." ]

So um_Steele still DOESN’T get it!?! He's NOT running JACK!

Why do republicans tend to have such an aversion to REALITY? "Thick-headed" AND delusional_smh.

Steele plans to put the GOP on a “12-step program of recovery”_? And WHAT pray tell gives him the notion that the Repubs will support his plan_?

Lawd. Lawd. Lawd.

First: Right about NOW, the GOP is looking for ways to dump his azz which means they're paying him NO MIND.

But okay_I’ll suspend REALITY for a moment and PRETEND that the GOP thinks Steele’s idea is a “great idea"__I’m curious as to what Steele considers the GOP’s primary diagnoses/disorder to be (addiction, compulsion and/or OTHER dysfunctional behavioral problems)? LOL!

2nd: What guiding principles has Steele highlighted outlining a course of action for recovery via his “12-step program”? and the process he’s listed for Repubs to live up to those principles.

For example:

[The principles characterized by Dr. Bob - one of AA's co-founders –are_"Trust God, clean house, help others" as summarized by the American Psychological Association, and the process involves the following:

• admitting that one cannot control one's addiction or compulsion;
• recognizing a greater power that can give strength;
• examining past errors with the help of a sponsor (experienced member);
• making amends for these errors;
• learning to live a new life with a new code of behavior;
• helping others that suffer from the same addictions or compulsions.]

Okay BACK to reality: Watching the Republican party engage in self-mutilation is painfully amusing (sigh).

Well THAT didn't take long:

"RNC Member Calls On Steele To Quit"
The Hill: 3-5-09

[Michael Steele should resign as Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman, according to a committee member from North Carolina.

In an e-mail to fellow RNC members obtained by The Hill, Dr. Ada Fisher, North Carolina's national committeewoman, said Steele is "eroding confidence" in the GOP and that members of his transition team should encourage him to step aside. Fisher added Steele's personal e-mail address to the e-mail.]
