U.S. Seeking 58 Bases In Iraq

....And an indefinite U.S. military presence, as part of a proposed "Status of Forces Agreement". See report from McClatchy.

Luckily Iraqi lawmakers are vehemently opposed to such a deal.

This shows that the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, has been caught lying. He told NPR that the U.S. was not seeking a long-term presence. The McClatchy report contradicts Mr. Crocker. The Bush Administration also seems to be attempting to tie the hands of the next President.
