CHICAGO, IL (WMBF) - The president of Harpo, Inc., has announced Oprah Winfrey will be calling it quits on her syndicated show in 2011.
Tim Bennett made Oprah's decision public in a press release to television partners on Thursday evening. Bennett says Oprah will make the announcement live on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Friday.
"If you think the last quarter century has been something, then don't touch that dial, as together ,we plan to make history in the next 20 months," Bennett said.
Oprah's show will close as its 25th season comes to an end on Sept. 9, 2011.
Never really thought I'd see the day.

LOL...we blogged this at the same time. I will just put my comments under your post.
She is reportedly still planning to launch her own network. (thought she already had one).
I wonder what this new network (OWN-Oprah Winfrey Network) will consist of.
I had always hoped that someone like Oprah could emerge to be the Rupert Murdoch for Progressives and start a news channel...or a whole series of news networks. Unfortunately I think OWN will focus on entertainment instead... If that's the case, then it will be a disappointing move in my view. Unfortunately she is a business woman first... the advocate, philanthropist, purveyor of information, are all secondary.

Oprah was the best in the genre. She even surpassed Sally Jessy Raphael who was the Queen of daytime talk shows for a long time. (a show that was actually based in St. Louis).
