Obama's find a new church - and, it's not in the Black community

From Time Magazine:

The Obamas Find a Church Home — Away from Home
By Amy Sullivan Monday, Jun. 29, 2009

For the past five months, White House aides and friends of the Obamas have been quietly visiting local churches and vetting the sermons of prospective first ministers in a search for a new — and uncontroversial — church home. Obama has even sampled a few himself, attending services at 19th Street Baptist on the weekend before his inauguration and celebrating Easter at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Now, in an unexpected move, Obama has told White House aides that instead of joining a congregation in Washington, D.C., he will follow in George W. Bush's footsteps and make his primary place of worship Evergreen Chapel, the nondenominational church at Camp David.

You can read the rest of the article at link above.

Now, I could say a great deal about this, but I won't.

Who says his church has to be in the "Black Community"? Who says it has to be a "Black Church"? And who makes those rules?

Ridiculous! It's funny how Blacks get upset when Obama doesn't dance to the beat of the "Black Community".

It's a good thing that he chose a mixed church...and a private one. If you read the article... privacy and security concerns carried the most weight in the Church decision. He couldn't use any kind of normal criteria that you or members or your family would use. He couldn't even use the same criteria used when he was a Senator. He's the President now.

As the article mentioned, going to church for them became a circus.

I would have chosen a private intimate place too if it were me in the same situation. He did what was best for himself and his family.

He also had to worry about pastors (folks who he wouldn't have any control over..and who could say anything). There are sick Republican Operatives and Republican terrorists who would have followed him into any new Congregation...waiting for the Pastor to say something controversial so that they could somehow attach Obama to the comments. They would have been there every God D--- week with audio recorders. Or they would have sent their terrorists to do Obama and his family harm. Obama knew all of this. He knew that this was something that the domestic Terrorists and their supporters were looking forward to. But Obama learned from the Rev. Wright nonsense. Essentially Obama took that card away from the enemy... A smart move IMO.

So there were several good reasons for this decision. Blacks think that they own Obama and that he has to put on some kind of show for them every Sunday.... or has to hype the profile of Black Churches. To Hell with that. It's nonsense.

He's the President... the President of the United States - I know it's the divided States. But he's the President of the United States nonetheless. NOT the President of the Black Community. Going to a mixed church is actually better IMO. They should attend a Church that looks like the Country. That's what a military Church is (I know... I went to them as a young man). Military Churches probably provide the best mix...and the most accurate resemblance of Americas diversity...and its members are common folk... Not elites. They won't be able to slap Obama with that one...when it comes to his Church.

He (and his wife) should be able to pick whatever Church they want.... without this kind of criticism.

Blacks are so damn predictable when it comes to this stuff. I knew they'd have something to say if he didn't follow the "Black Communities" rules and choose a "Black church". It's time for Black social thinking to evolve beyond the 60's and 70's.

Good look for the Obamas. Finally a place where they can worship without all the hootin' and hollering from the ministers and the gawking from the congregation.

Not mad at him in the least bit.
