Another GOPer shows true colors

Hat tip: Prometheus 6

SEN. DAVE SCHULTHEIS, R-Colorado Springs, on Wednesday voted againt Senate Bill 179, which requires pregnant women to undergo HIV testing to ensure steps can be taken to reduce transferring the disease to the baby if the mother is infected.

* What he said during the debate: "This stems from sexual promiscuity for the most part and I just can't go there. We do things continually to remove the consequences of poor behavior, unacceptable behavior, quite frankly. I'm not convinced that part of the role of government should be to protect individuals from the negative consequences of their actions."

* What he said afterward: "What I'm hoping is that yes, that person may have AIDS, have it seriously as a baby and when they grow up, but the mother will begin to feel guilt as a result of that. The family will see the negative consequences of that promiscuity and it may make a number of people over the coming years ... begin to realize that there are negative consequences and maybe they should adjust their behavior. We can't keep people from being raped. We can't keep people from shooting each other. We can't keep people from jumping off bridges. People drink and drive, and they crash and kill people. Poor behavior has its consequences."

There really are no words. This is disgusting.

There was a time_a long long time ago_when I used to think that the majority of Republican politicians _particularly those serving in D.C. couldn’t possibly believe even 50% of all the despicable sh*t they spew. They’re merely giving the Republican “base” what it wants to hear (which told me all I needed to know about “the base”)

I'd think: Surely the Republican hierarchy is “more intelligent” than 'the base."

And maybe_just maybe_there was time when my thinking was correct(?) but that time has long since passed!

The Repub hierarchy has, IMO, provided THE WORLD with more than enough evidence to confirm that its members are, indeed, NO smarter than “the base”. From Joe-the-Plumber (who AIN’T a licensed plumber) to Piyush “bobby” Jindal (a proud fundamentalist “exorcist”), Michael “Hip-hop can help SAVE the Republican party” Steele, Sarah Palin (smh). The list goes on and on.

To my eyes: The GOP (leaders and “the base”) has devolved into the biggest group of Dangerous, mal-adaptive and Borderline intellectual functioning MISFITS I've ever seen!!!

With a penchant for displaying TWISTED logic and intense HATRED towards anyone who’s not “like us” _the messages Ususally articulated by the GOP turn out to be the political equivalency of Motolov cocktails...THROWN AT ITSELF!?!
