Due to a combination of a lack of time and too many things happening over the past week, I was unable to blog as much as I wanted to. If I had 2 brains, 8 arms, and more free time, I still could not have covered everything that happened over the past week.

*There was the story of Sen. Larry Craig, which was covered. He has now resigned under pressure from his fellow Republican Senators. But there were other stories that I did not get to chime in on like I wanted to. Alberto Gonzales is under investigation by the Inspector General of the Justice Department for perjury and other possible misconduct.

*The story of Mother Teresa was definitely one of the more interesting stories of the past week...and I will comment on that briefly.

*The DNC has threatened to strip Florida of its delegates in the Democratic primary, because the States Democrats want to move their primary ahead of other States. A few dozen States have been jockeying for position over the past 6 months, all wanted to be ahead of the pack. I posted about this issue a few months ago... It's a trainwreck that many saw coming a long time ago. It is an example of what is wrong with the election process in this country....

*The Bush crew caught more Hell this week after a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) was leaked, which counters the White House spin about Iraq & the surge. The GAO report stated what I wrote on the blog a few weeks ago- that the main goals that the surge was meant to accomplish have not been met. The civilian deaths in Iraq have remained essentially unchanged. Of course the Bush crew wants to white-wash the report before it is officially released.

*The Bush crew still wants to strike Iran, while hurricane Katrina victims are still waiting for assistance. Bush & Company will also ask Congress for another $50 billion for Iraq (while Katrina Victims are still struggling). American priorities are so unbelievably misplaced.

*Pakistan, Pakistan, Pakistan.... This is definitely a topic that I have been following, but have not had enough time to offer any analysis on. It appears that Pervez Musharraf is in the process of making a deal with former PM Bhutto that would require him to give up his military position as Chief of Staff, while allowing him to maintain his dictatorship for another 5 years. The negotiations have recently stalled, but may continue.

*There was also the story of Coretta Scott King and the FBI.... We all know about Cointelpro, and the FBI's fixation with Dr. King. But it appears that the FBI watched Mrs. King long after the assassination of her husband. The government was concerned about the civil rights movement and the peace movement linking.

This gives credence to what I have stated here before- That Kings anti- war position was a bigger concern for the government than his civil rights activity. The anti-war position may have also precipitated his murder.

It also appears that there was a snake in the King camp, providing information to the FBI. King knew in general terms that there were Black folks around him who were not exactly on his side... But I don't think he could have imagined a mole in or near his inner circle. I wonder who the mole could have been and if they are still alive today. Perhaps someone will come forward.

*Richard Jewel died last week. He is a perfect example of what sometimes happens to those who are the real heroes and who try to do the right thing in this country- you get vilified & eaten alive. It has become the American way... The reports that I recall reading, stated that this man saved dozens of lives while putting himself at risk. Yet, after this week, most Americans won't hear the name Richard Jewel ever again. But they will certainly hear about Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and other disgusting Hollywood celebrities. It's another reflection of Americas priorities being mixed up.

*An internal State Department report points to severe corruption within the Iraqi government.

*Sen. John Warner is retiring after his current term is over. This would provide the Democrats with an opportunity to gain another seat in the Senate. Popular former Governor Mark Warner (D) is almost certain to run for the open seat.

And the above stories still do not cover every important story that took place over the past week.
