An Enduring Relationship in Iraq and The Child Healthcare Veto
A Nation of Mixed up Priorities
The leader of the Compassionate Conservative Party has a problem with adding $30 billion for childrens Healthcare. But there is no problem with wasting $400 billion for a war that the Country did not need.

Hummm - here are some FACTS that you will never hear from people with a certain ideology
1) When Medicaid was first proposed in the mid-1960's it was passed based on certain spending projections that were digestible for passage. They projected the spending up to the year 2000. WHEN WE ACTUALLY GOT TO the year 2000 the ACTUAL spending was 8 times MORE than what was projected in order to get the bill passed.
2) Look at the MEDICAL SPENDING INCREASES that are projected in the next 10 years. This is BEFORE expanded SCHIP and GOVERNMENT Universal Health Care........in 10 years the INCREASE in health care spending (not the TOTAL SPENDING - THE INCREASE alone) will be MORE THAN
a) The Current Military Budget
b) The Bush Tax Cuts
c) The Iraq War
ALL COMBINED.
Prior to any additional load on spending increased by adding more people to the public dole - THIS IS WHAT we have. Now some people want to add more!
3)Iraq spending will END at some point in the near future. The SCHIP spending and Government health care will be perpetual spending.
4) The Comptroller of the USA says that HEALTH CARE not MILITARY will be the thing that takes out the American economy.

The FRAUD in your position as you all compare Iraq spending is that you FAIL to make note of what WE ARE ALREADY SPENDING ON Social Services and Health Care and ONLY make a value judgment on the spending in Iraq/Afghanistan.
SCHIP was originally created for children who fit a certain income profile. NOW the goal for some is to add more kids as government dependents. I have LOTS OF BILLS TOO. I would LOVE to get FREE HEALTH CARE............IF it were actually FREE!!!!

That's why the government needs to take control from private health insurers and big pharma. The government has the power & the leverage to control the costs.... This is in fact the case in other Countries. You can find the same drug from the same company in other Countries (Canada, UK, etc) for a considerably lower amount than what you would find in the U.S. That's because those governments negotiate lower prices.
And in terms of the budget... it's all about priorities. The country will eventually have to make some hard choices (for its survival). The U.S. won't be able to maintain such a strong economy or social system if people don't have healthcare.
If the European "Democracies" can do it, then certainly the U.S. can.
I am tired of hearing these excuses from Conservatives.
And are you willing to cancel medicaid or Social Security for the elders in your own family? I doubt that you are. I would love to hear you break the news to them... that would be an interesting conversation. Conservatives are always calling for pulling the plug on the poor and letting them die, but when asked whether they are willing to see these programs end for their own family members, then they always become hesitant. Let's just pull the plug on everybody since we are in such a homicidal mood.
You all claim to be so pro-life, yet you seem so eager to end it...or to make it harder for those who are the most vulnerable. That's why I hate hearing about your phony abortion arguments. Are you pro-life or not... or pro-life for only certain Americans. Poor children don't deserve to live.
And don't give me that nonsense about Black children who should not have been born... and that there are too many out of wedlock births...and your usual script on that. The children who are on SCHIP come in all colors and from parents who in all sorts of bad financial circumstances.... circumstances that they did not know they would be in.

Iraq war spending will end soon???? Says who? All indications are that the U.S. will be there for years to come. The U.S. isn't leaving Iraq anytime soon.

Single payer health care FAILS to address what you claim. The big promised benefit of this scheme is that 47 million people will be added to the GOVERNMENT dole. Add to this the 100 million people who are UNDER-insured and at some point the smoke and mirrors will be identified.
I take it you are not watching the political situation in FRANCE? The government stated that without major changes to MICHAEL MOORE'S model system THE GOVERNMENT WILL GO BROKE.
Sarkozy has also brushed aside predictions that France will have to drastically rein in spending and argued that economic growth was key to filling state coffers.

People DO HAVE HEALTH CARE. It is the GOVERNMENT who is putting in MANDATES and WRITING CHECKS that suppresses MARKET FORCES from introducing price competition.
Angry - how do you explain the REDUCTION in prices for elective surgery like laser eye treatments which are NOT covered by insurance?

I see that YOU ARE STILL LIVING HERE.
Please see France above. They are WHERE YOU WANT US TO GO. They are changing in order to SURVIVE.
I am tired of idiocy from Quasi-Socialists.
[quote]And are you willing to cancel medicaid or Social Security for the elders in your own family?[/qoute]
I said NOTHING about canceling Medicare. I would like to see a more DISTRIBUTED system in which THE MIDDLE MAN with MANDATES and a relative blank check is removed and the choices by THE PEOPLE are used to reduce the costs.

First of all YOU DON'T know my position on this matter.
Secondly it is rather perverse of you focus on ME more than you focus on the two individuals who CONSUMMATED this child. Where as my wife and I are able to RESPONSIBLY decided that though we could AFFORD another child we are not willing to deal with the lifestyle changes that another child will have upon us despite both of us being gainfully employed and stable ......IN THE PERVERSION OF SOME PEOPLE THEY FEAR
asking that people who are UNSTABLE to express this same RESPONSIBILITY surrounding bringing a child into this world.
It is THE STATE that is supposed to ABSTRACT this child from the consequences of their PARENTS - in school, in health care, in employment.
How do you build a strong over all society or a STRONG BLACK PEOPLE when you DON'T KNOW what to tell the masses WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO ASSIST IN THEIR OWN SALVATION?

An argument that I NEVER MADE.
