Arrogant Democrat Doing No Favors For Her Party

Police Planning to Arrest Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney for Striking a Police Officer


My thoughts:

I like McKinney's fiesty approach when it comes to Congressional matters...she's one of the few with a backbone, who stands up for something... But I have to disagree with how she handled this situation.

Overall...she is annoying. Her other antics are not good for her party. And she is arrogant as hell. She has let her position of status and power go to her head. She would not be so bad if she would lose the arrogance. And everything seems to be about race to her. The most benign issue always has to be a race issue for Cynthia McKinney.

She should have been wearing her ID. This is what this comes down to...that and common courtesy and respect for the officers at the Capital building. I have done security for many years...and some of that time was spent in the screening type setting...with X-ray machines, etc. And some officials, where I worked, were allowed to go around the machines (undercover airport police, federal agents, FAA people, etc). But they were never rude and they would always show ID and let the Supervisor (me) know what they were doing. In this case, she does not wear her ID, her pin, or anything.

I can tell you...that in that setting, it's impossible to remember exactly who everyone is when you have over 500 Congressmembers going through there, mixed with all the other people. It's confusing and stressful. This is especially the case if they had a new officer who may not have been familiar with everyone there.... or who only saw her from behind. More than likely...all Cynthia McKinney had to do was stop like she was requested to do, and turn around and one of the other people there most likely would have recognized her. That would have been the end of the matter. It would not have been an issue if her arrogance had not gotten in the way as it so often does. I hope I never get that arrogant. I'd hate to work anywhere near her. She seems like she would be a witch to work with or to work for.

As far as her arrest is concerned- she will probably be charged with a misdemeanor assault, and she will be asked to turn herself in for processing (there should not be a "traditional" police arrest here.... so no handcuffs expected). After processing, she will likely be released with a Summons to appear in court.
