Will Be Off The Grid for Awhile

I just took a step closer to homelessness this week. I will be losing my job over the next month or so. A large chunk of the staff has been notified that they will no longer have employment. I have been under-employed at this place for many years (devoted myself for 17 years total). None of that matters.... being let go anyway.
I have worked since I was 16 years old... Have worked pretty much nonstop for the last 18 years. I can't wrap my brain around the idea of not having a job.

But the job I had was not a very good one...so this may be a blessing in disguise (wishful thinking).

I may lose internet access at some point. I have not decided whether I will continue blogging or close the account. Too many unknowns right now. But either way, I appreciate the few readers I had over the past 5 years.

And if anyone knows someone who is hiring... (Midwest, Southwest, East, Texas, Colorado...but especially in Missouri or Illinois, let me know.)

What I really want is Federal government work. But it seems you have to know someone to get any opportunities. My interest is in security administration, personnel security, national security related work... "security specialist", federal inspector, immigration passport examiner, or anything related.

Will take anything in the range of $35,000.00 (or close). I'm not hard to please.

I am sorry to hear of this struggle and I hope you land on your feet.

I am in a similar, increasingly harrowing situation. You are not alone. I suspect it may be more folks than just you and me posting from free wifi access points in the coming days...

AI, I'm also sorry to hear about your situation.

I was hunting around usajobs.gov; referred to me by my girlfriend who works for the government herself. Just doing a general search I was able to locate a few positions that might fit well with your interests:

I won't lie: I've been told government jobs are pretty hard to secure. Still, it doesn't hurt to try as many outlets as possible.

Good luck with your job hunt. I hope it doesn't keep you out of the blogging game for too long!

I'm sorry to hear about this, AI. I really am. Please don't close it down. But, you go and take care of yourself.

Have you ever thought about moving South?

Ever thought of looking in Minnesota?
