I get the irony but the situations are not similar.

The kid of any president would be covered exactly the same.

We've come a long way since that of the Rockwell scene... not far enough but, oh yeah, things are better.

Of course, there are many miles to go before we all act with tolerance and fairness but by being positive and applying effort, we shall someday be better people.

Bill,

You're too literal. The whole point is that we've come so far that there's actually a black kid who gets escorted to school now.

No, not too literal, some things will always be hot buttons. I was there. It's been a while since young people were beat and hosed down for wanting more. SNCC, etc. Feel lucky and/or fortunate.

When your friends are hurt because they spoke for their rights ... no, don't tell me how it is. I get it.

Obama is no accident. The realization has arrived, a non-white person can lead and bind us all. But never dismiss the 'cracker factor'... it ain't a garden yet. And "so far" has yet to be fully defined.
