Governor Rod Blagojevich Removed From Office

In an unanimous vote, the Illinois Senate has voted to remove Rod Blagojevich from office.

There was another vote to deny him from ever holding office in Illinois again- Unanimous again.

Illinois senate tells Rod Blagojevich to not let the door hit him in the butt on the way out

Personally, I am going to miss this guy. He epitomizes the worst of Democratic politics.

I guess he didn't hit up enough talk shows. Maybe if he would have pled his case on Tyra and DL's show, the outcome might've been different.

*snicker*

Rikyrah,

I know it must be hard for you to see Blago go.... but he had it coming. I know how much of a fan you were. *evil grin*

But....

59-0 .... 59-0 wow! The Illinois State Senate probably rarely votes unanimous on anything.

And this was AFTER his PR campaign?

Andre.. ironically, I think his antics over the last week may have only helped to seal the deal for him. I'm sure the State Senate was annoyed by his TV appearances, embarrassing the State and thumbing his nose at their authority. It also bothered them that he went on TV, but refused to appear for his trial. And that reference to Mandela and MLK probably didn't help either. They finally got tired of him.

Some saw the man as simply unfit to continue as Governor because of his crazy behavior.

The only problem with the Illinois Legislature is that they moved too damn slow. This should have been done weeks ago.... and perhaps we could have stopped Blago from leaving any remnants behind (Burris for example). I blame the State Legislature for the Burris failure. They should have stripped Blago of his powers immediately.

AI, I agree that this nonsensical story should have never been allowed to fester. All the same, I must admit I'm still pretty suprised this didn't stretch out longer. I mean, this time one month ago, the State Supreme court basically told Blago opponents to kick rocks. Now Blago's gone. Had this trial been any shorter, we could have squeezed it into an episode of Judge Judy.
