Randy Newman is always up to something. Great musician.
He hit the nail on the head with this one.... showing how some people in this Country still think.
Ironically.... it's largely working class and middle class whites in the South who think this way. They continue to vote against their own best interests and support Republicans when in reality... Republicans don't give a rats ass about them. In fact, they have contempt for them.
But they just can't get beyond Obama's skin color.
Many of these folks come from States that went to Clinton/Gore.
I was listening to an interview a couple of weeks back that NPR did with a business owner (not sure what State...but I think it was Wisconsin). The NPR reporter basically painted her into a corner on the issue of why she wouldn't vote for Obama...when she has voted Democrat in the past. She tried to say it was due to heavy taxes and regulation (which was a bunch of b.s. of course because its just factually incorrect)... but the reporter basically caught her...forcing her to reveal her prejudice. By the end of the interview...it was clear to me that race was really the issue. The reporter asked her... why she previously voted for Clinton (who had higher tax rates on her) but wouldn't vote for Obama. She could not give a cogent answer. Her response was...basically 'Obama doesn't know what being an American is all about but Clinton does'.
This stuff drives me crazy.
