Bush Talking Armageddon

Bush has begun talking Armageddon again. Stating that Iran will cause him to set off World War III. This nut wants to hold us all hostage... telling the World that if another sovereign Nation does not do exactly what he says, he is willing to start a 3rd World War. In essence...he wants to hold us at gun point.

And of course the rest of the Country is sleeping on his comments (too busy watching football and driving their SUV's...of which they won't be able to gas up pretty soon because prices will be too damn high. But until then... people will remain in La La Land). Even during the Cold War, American Presidents generally refrained from such talk.

Bush's comments were in direct response to Vladimir Putins warning to the U.S., not to attack Iran. The message was intended for Russian ears, just as much as it was intended for Iran. Of course any war with Iran risks drawing in Russia, Israel and other countries in the region.

I told you they were more terrifying now than they've ever been. They are insane.

Oh I know... I was warning folks about Bush and the PNAC when he was campaigning for President in 2000. I knew his Presidency would be a foreign policy disaster... and I knew that they would be gunning for Iraq and perhaps other parts of the Mideast.

Then 9/11 hit and it became the excuse that they needed. They were able to fool the American public quite easily (because people just had not paid attention...and many still aren't today). But even if there was no 9/11, they were going to attack Iraq anyway to do regime change, and to gain a stronger foothold in the oil rich Middle East (for economic and strategic reasons).

But you are right... they are insane. Their logic of "Let's set off WWIII to prevent WWIII" is beyond irrational. But this is the kind of crazy Foreign policy thinking that they have been relying on from day one.

And what's almost as troubling is that the Democrats are not that different when it comes to foreign policy.

As long as this country has these two legacy Parties... and no viable 3rd and 4th Party emerges... then it will pretty much always be this bad.

The Peace movement & progressive movement in this country is impotent... because they have wasted the last 30 years... protesting in the streets, instead of building a political and media infrastructure that would represent real power. This is what the Progressive movement in Europe was able to do over the last few decades... and it has translated into real power... often in the form of the Green Party... (which has members in many European Parliaments). They have been able to create leverage and temper the pro-war politicians in many European Countries...essentially keeping them in check.

This hasn't happened in this Country, and therefore you have the two main Parties going bonkers when it comes to Foreign Policy. Even the Democrats are competing with one another (and with Republicans) on the question of who can be the best Ronald Reagan or John Wayne. It has gotten completely out of control.
