Senator Russ Feingold is not helping his Party with his proposal to Censure G.W. Bush. I think it's a stupid idea! It is a stupid idea for several reasons. For one, most Americans would not go for it. Secondly, Americans see this as a "time of war" and they see this as a national security issue connected to said "war". It gives the impression that the Democrats are not patriotic and are not tough on national security issues. Now, i'm not saying that this is the case, i'm simply stating that this is the perception held by the American public, which is easily manipulated by Right Wing Conservative pro-war propoganda, which oozes through their televisions, radios, and computer screens on an almost constant basis. From that standpoint, Democrats have no chance. This is just like the stupid talk about impeachment over the past few months.
Ultimately, it would never pass the Congress. He is asking for a Censure against a Republican President, when there is a Republican controlled Congress. Like I said... a stupid, miserable idea. This could only end up hurting Democrats...especially since this is an issue surrounding "homeland security" and "warrantless wiretapping", which most Americans have indicated that they support. This will end up being a lot of talk...and nothing is going to happen because Feingold does not have the votes. He isn't even close to having significant votes for this. Why go on with hearings? A complete waste of time and resources...something that the Congress is good at doing- wasting our time and resources. This will only leave a bad impression among Americans for the Democrats, even though the measure never passed. Americans will remember the debate. There are no benefits here whatsoever for the Democrats. It can only be harmful for them to continue this nonsense. This only provides ammunition for Republicans. This is why Feingold can't even get support from his fellow Democrats on his censure idea. And having a prominent "Watergate" figure involved, will do nothing towards helping Feingolds cause. Feingold needs to find a hobby.
Democrats should be more worried about the elections this year and in 2008. They should be more worried about establishing their own media apparatus to get their messages out, like the giant media infrastructure that the Republicans have. If DemocRATS don't do that, they will waste yet another opportunity.

Do you really think it's worth the effort for anyone to talk about Democratic party strategy for November, when the Republicans are protected by audit-free electronic voting? They are going to rig the outcome in their favor.
The Democrats have no chance of retaking the house or the senate while there is no ability to verify election outcomes. If you want to talk about Rovian misdirection, this is the biggest one of all - while the Democrats get gleeful about polls, he sits back and gets ready to pick the next Supreme Court justices.
And when people do grumble about this in November, it will be way too late.
They do not need to rig every district. Just enough to make the small difference they need.
(Or do you think the Republican party can be trusted with the elections process?)
