Bush Administration Rejects Key Iraq Study Group Recommendations

The Bush administration is rejecting key parts of the Iraq Study Group report. It appears that Bush & Co. has decided to find its own way to deal with Iraq. Stubborn ideology may be getting in the way of rational policy.

However, I never really believed that reaching out to Iran and Syria would have that much impact on what is happening in Iraq. The Iraq situation is too complex, and involves too many factions inside and outside the country. Iranian and Syrian governments probably have limited influence at the moment. The mess in Iraq seems to be creating its own fuel.

BUT...The Iraq study group clearly stated that the U.S. should reach out anyway, in the hopes that it could have a positive impact. The ISG also stated that the Iraq issue should not be tied to the Iranian nuclear issue.
