I don't know if you happened to see the New York Post a few days ago but I damn near threw my computer out the window when I someone showed me what they chose to plaster on the front page -->

As de-sensitized as I thought I was to the stupidity and sheer ignorance of the American media.... this cover surprised even me.

un-fucking-believable.

Joy...

I just took a look at that Front Page. I have no words.

How does anyone get away with that? That's no way to win hearts and minds, especially here at home. It's offensive to the Islamic religion and to everyone who is part of it.

My guess (my hope) is that may have been a photoshop job by someone. But even without the caption, the whole "Gotcha" approach showing the dead body is just dreadful and ignorant on its own. A lot of newspapers and TV news networks have been doing this nonsense.

If someone would have posted something like that mocking Christianity, there would be an outcry. First of all... it would not even be published....lol

But since it's anti-Muslim, it sneaks through.

And I am not sympathetic to Zarqawi at all... the front page shows deeper problems within American society that is not going away anytime soon. The ignorance is just unbelievable.

It's clear that Americans know little...or knew little about the cultures in the Middle East before going over there.... that includes everyone from the U.S. soldiers there, to the news media, to celebrities and commentators, down to the average Joe Blow American. Even the President and his people had no clue and continue to have no clue. This kind of ignorance is the reason why the country is in the position it's in now.

The first thing I did when I saw the photo was to check the new york post website because I also thought it was photoshopped...

...sadly it's real right down the the disgusting caption.

I'm actually quite surprised that this hasn't caught the attention of more people. Granted, it IS the NY Post and no one pays much attention to that garbage anyways, but it's still a little surprising that it isn't a bigger issue than it should be. There's no way that that picture and caption should have ever made it past the editting room.

Did you hear about the 17 arrests made up here in Toronto last weekend? 17 young, homegrown gentlemen of the Muslim faith were arrested for allegedly poltting terrorist attacks around the Toronto area.

"In the largest operation ever carried out under Canada's Anti-terrorism Act, more than 400 police officers conducted a series of raids in southern Ontario on June 2-3, 2006, and arrested 17 suspects."

This investigation was apparently secretly being carried out for the past 2 years. The suspects had ordered and received three tonnes of ammonium nitrate (three times the amount that Timothy McVeigh used to bomb a federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995, that killed 168 people).

http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/toronto-bomb-plot/

So after the arrests, there were mosques all over Toronto that were targeted and vandelized- much like what happened after 9/11. Now, the anti-Islamic sentiment has grown some because of a couple handfulls of Muslim extremists who allegedly planned to carry out attacks in this country.

What's incredibly distrubing to me is the association people place- like you said, to an entire religion. Or an entire race for that matter. When did we EVER hear Timothy McVeigh described as a homegrown terrorist?? Never once was he depicted as such. Yet when you see Muslims or really... any "minority" on tv that is suspected of carrying out a vicious act, people love to throw the word "terrorist" around.

I noticed this with many different words. Without carrying this subject too long... I'll just throw in the term "refugee" that the media took and ran with after Katrina. I could barely watch the news without constantly being angered by the terms they were using. Western news reporters seriously need a crash-course in "cultural sensitivity 101".
