I always marveled at the shuttle-
leave Earth looking like a rocket
back to Earth like an airplane.
I thought it was wonderful.
I, too, throw a serious side eye towards private industry doing this. quite simply, I wouldn't step foot on it, because I would never trust their safety measures.
