I couldn't have said it any better and I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I too have grown tired of Tavis acting as if he speaks for all "Black Folk", I actually hate to hear him say that. You are right he acts like BIllary. I understand that Tom Joyner may feel like he needs to stay neutral but he also defined Obama on his show with Al Sharpton so I feel that he should have given his same thoughts when Tavis finished his thoughts this morning on the show. He went on and on about disrespecting Dr. King as if he was the official spokesperson for Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy. From all that we know about Dr. Martin Luther King it's fair to believe that he would be proud of Senator Obama and understanding that he wasn't in Memphis and proud that he was particing in the very same celebration at another ceremony. While listening to the Tom Joyner Morning show on Friday I listened to several ministers and men who walked side by side with Dr. King give their opinion of how proud Dr. King would be of Senator Obama and that he indeed would be voting for him. I'm just tired Tavis! I'm a black woman (double-minority) and it has never crossed my mind nor have I felt that Senator Obama was ignoring black issues in order to be president. Senator Obama is for EVERYONE and that's what I love about him! I don't think the Hispanic population will be upset if he doesn't make it Cinco De Mayo. Tavis needs to step down of his soap box and shut up.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21083673.post-88495270045873934622008-03-02T08:56:00.000-08:002008-03-02T08:56:00.000-08:00Dr. Boyce Watkins did an interesting commentary on...Dr. Boyce Watkins did an interesting commentary on this topic
Its on this page I thought it was interesting. www.yourblackworld.com.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21083673.post-87465471867144003842008-02-25T19:06:00.000-08:002008-02-25T19:06:00.000-08:00
Then, there are those who say he is ' too l...
Then, there are those who say he is ' too liberal'...and, to be honest, I never thought LIBERAL could be used as a bad word IN BLACK CIRCLES.
Rikyrah - Liberalism becomes a "cuss word" to Black folks of independent thought when we are ALL ALONE and are forced to achieve a directed outcome by tapping our own will as a people, order ourselves for the challenge in which those who are seeking this positive end must voluntarily yield their own will and focus on the destination.

You don't see the problem with "liberalism" during this period of development of Black people because you (and Obama) seek to apply your liberalism and thus have Black people directed at CHANGES IN THE GOVERNMENT and the ECONOMIC ORDER (two entities that are outside of the exclusive zone of control for the Black community) as the key means of obtaining your end.

Thus this benefit will RAIN DOWN upon the Black community after having made these external changes. The Black community doesn't have to make any fundamental changes in order to benefit from that which is raining down upon us from the outside.

The truth is that more comprehensive and enduring change can ONLY COME FROM WITHIN and this is when "liberalism" and "progressivism" shows its inappropriateness.

I hope that one day you and others will promote the GOAL to be greater than the defense of your ideology "liberal/progressive" or otherwise.Constructive Feedbackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13417405356099504421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21083673.post-44040862227417355632008-02-25T14:30:00.000-08:002008-02-25T14:30:00.000-08:00Or is it another one of her minions comparing Obam...Or is it another one of her minions comparing Obama to Jesse Jackson? I'm so disgusted, I can't bring myself to post it...until I calm myself.

This Primary is completely out of control...and it's probably time for top officials to intervene.

If they don't, the Democratic Party may implode. If she tries to carry this into April... I am not sure if they can even survive that long, if they keep this up. They are doing unecessary damage at this point.

Both are going for the throat...and they are both drawing blood now.

There really should be an independent, Federal authority, that could regulate some of the behavior that candidates engage in...and fine them for Swiftboating, character assasination, and race based attacks.Brian https://www.blogger.com/profile/07872444863142531165noreply@blogger.com
